Anti-wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as neuromodulators, are a cosmetic treatment that uses a form of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyse the muscles that cause wrinkles in the face. The injections are typically used to smooth out wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes, softening your appearance and revealing a fresher you.

GOAL: Rejuvenation through reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

TREATMENT: Non-permanent anti-wrinkle injections are injected into certain facial muscles blocking  the signal from the nerve to the muscle and thereby allowing the muscle to relax and prevent fine lines from forming. Free local anaesthetic numbing gel is available upon request, prior to appointment.

TREATMENT AREAS: Frown lines, forehead lines, crows feet and upper lip.

DURATION: You will require a 30 minute consultation prior to any treatment. Treatment itself starts from 30 minutes.

FREQUENCY: Results show in 7 days and should last for around 3 months.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: Short term swelling and redness with occasional bruising.

PLEASE NOTE: You should not have anti-wrinkle treatment if you:

  • are pregnant or breast feeding
  • have a history of Bell’s Palsy
  • have a bleeding disorder or are using blood thinners including aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel or DOAC
  • are taking certain antibiotics (gentamycin)
  • have a muscle disease (such as myasthenia gravis)

Anti-wrinkle injections have been available for decades, yet remain one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world.

At Renegade Skin, we ensure that highly trained doctors carry out this treatment so you can be sure you’re getting the highest possible standard of care. For any injectable treatment, we recommend that you book in a consultation in order to discuss your needs and formulate a treatment plan.

During the treatment, tiny injections will be placed precisely into the muscles that are causing the lines and wrinkles to form, using super fine needles. After treatment, the doctor will apply aftercare cream and discuss your aftercare plan, which will then be emailed to you. You will also have the option of a review appointment.

Important things to note:

  • Due to differences in muscle and anatomy, some patients may require higher doses than others to achieve the same results
  • The needles used for this treatment are tiny and not painful, but if you are concerned about pain and would prefer your doctor to apply a topical anaesthetic (numbing) cream before commencing treatment, please discuss this in your consultation.
